Does Truth Guarantee Social Peace? The Dangers of Transparency…
The game claims to establish equality between the participants, but it is organised from the outset in order to obtain compromising information. Truth is therefore never pursued for its own sake: it becomes a weapon intended to neutralise the other person. Every revelation alters the balance of power and turns a confidence into a means of blackmail. Transparency, often presented as a virtue, appears here as a form of violence when it is imposed and used without reciprocity.
The process of undressing gives physical form to the gradual disappearance of the protections that make social life possible. Clothes, like social conventions, do not merely conceal lies: they also preserve intimacy and allow individuals to coexist. By linking professional rivalries to marital secrets, the play shows how fear and domination contaminate every kind of human relationship. The final explosion pushes this logic to its ultimate conclusion: when everyone seeks to strip the others completely bare, the very framework of communal life ends up being blown apart.
